Saunders are delighted to celebrate the work of University of Hertfordshire Interior Architecture and Design student, Jekaterina Vasilenko, who has won our Best Community Project Award for her concept building to provide food and shelter for the homeless.
The three-storey building is designed as a refuge for homeless young people. The setting includes natural features to promote wellbeing and provides the tools for growth and development to help residents to integrate back into society.
We were especially impressed with Jekaterina’s site analysis and research for the concept, which draws attention to the mental health needs of homeless young people.
Saunders are pleased to support the University of Hertfordshire by awarding this prize annually to students. We have also recently employed Ben Layzell, who won the Saunders award in 2021.
