A new apartment development designed by Saunders received a resolution to grant planning last night at committee. Located on a challenging sloped site between a leisure centre and Ancient Woodland, the scheme is intended to form part of a wider masterplan that includes the adjacent Larkswood leisure development. Situated at the north east corner of the wider masterplan site, the scheme responds to both existing and emerging context. Working closely with the local authority, Saunders have developed a scheme which presents a strong active frontage to New Road, with classical composition and a contemporary edge. The 72 apartments, within an L-shaped block of five to seven storeys, are mixed tenures including affordable rent, shared ownership and private sale.
