London Road, Rayleigh - Planning approval for Phase 2

29-04-2022

Saunders are delighted to have recently received Reserved Matters approval at committee for 76 new dwellings to be built by Countryside Eastern Home Counties. The site forms Parcels 5, 6, 12 and 13 of the wider Wolsey Park development in Rayleigh. Countryside are currently on site constructing the first phase of 192 dwellings. The site has been allocated in the Council’s adopted Site Allocations Plan (2014) and is located on the western edge of Rayleigh, adjacent to existing residential and industrial developments, between London Road and Rawreth Lane.

The proposals respond to the built form across neighbouring sites, the landscape setting and site topography to create a high quality and inclusive development within Phase 2. The proposals comprise a mix of 2-5 bedroom houses and 1 and 2 bedroom flats and will deliver 35% affordable housing provision including M4(3) compliant flats. Residents will have access to quality landscaped open space as part of the wider masterplan as well as a local green space which acts as an extension of the ‘Green Lung’ delivered on previous phases. Residents will benefit from landscaped views and connections to site wide pedestrian and cycle networks.
